Homework 12/6

Finish the Drama "Fill-in-the-Blank" notes.  They start on p. 780 in your textbook, and go on p.67 in your IAN.  Also, don't forget that next week your IANs are due and you need everything not only in there, but also completed (pp. 50-67 so far)!

Reminders: 12/3

Reminder: IANs due this week!

Just reminding you that IANs are due this week (TOMORROW if you are in 1st and 2nd periods, Wednesday for 3rd and 4th, and Thursday for 6th and 7th).  Make sure you have all the work done and taped down for pp. 40-49.  Also, if you didn't finish the work on Friday, they are due at the beginning of the period, so finish them up!

HOMEWORK tonight is to finish the storyboard you started in class.   Remember that there are 5 boxes on the bottom of Mitty's daydreams and 4 on the top for his real life.  Pictures, quotes, and color are necessary in the boxes and the theme/explanation of non linear plot importance on the back!

REMINDERS: You will take a quiz on "...Walter Mitty" tomorrow, so the storyboard is a helpful review!  IANs are due this week (pp. 28-39).  1st/2nd tomorrow, 3rd/4th Wednesday, and 6th/7th on Thursday, so make sure they are ready!

ONE PAGER DUE DATE POSTPONED TO MONDAY!

In the interest of doing better on the summative grade and making sure you REALLY get it (and since I am not going to be at school tomorrow to help), I am moving the due date to MONDAY for the one pagers.  That means tomorrow's 9-Week Exam is your last grade of the 9 weeks!!  Make sure you try hard and get your rough drafts together so I can give you guidance on them Friday!  I hope this helps, and good luck on the test...CARPE DIEM!!!

10/16 Reminders

Tomorrow is PSAT/Field Day in the morning, so make sure you report to the proper place (auditorium for field day, various classrooms for PSAT--see library windows for your room).  As of right now, you should be working on your One-Pager.  However, the due date may be moved to Monday (since I won't be seeing morning classes again until Friday).  If that happens, it will not be put on this 9 weeks' grade.  Either way, make sure you do your best on the CBA type test with the substitute on Thursday (because that one WILL be on this 9 weeks), and on the One-Pager (whenever it is due b/c it will still be a summative!)  That is all for now!  :D

Don't forget to create a symbol to represent Zaroff and one represent Rainsford (p.24-IAN)  Keep in mind, you are giving a picture to show character traits, not pictures of the characters themselves.  Also, if you are trying to have more time to work with your partner on the actual two voice poems on Monday, you can be working on your character charts this weekend!  :D

Homework 9/19

Make sure you finish identifying the parts of the plot (exposition, inciting incident, rising actions, climax, falling actions, and resolution).  Also write where the conflicts take place, and what kind they are (ex:  external/man vs. nature).  We are on the downhill slope to the weekend!  :)

Interactive Notebooks due this week and HW (9/17)

Notebooks are due for the first time this week, so make sure you have them together.  What is together?  Numbered, table of contents numbered and filled in, and all work taped/glued in on appropriate pages.  What pages are being graded?  1-17!  If papers fall out, I won't grade them, so make sure they are in there securely!  1st and 2nd period will turn them in on Tuesday, 3rd and 4th on Wednesday, and 6th and 7th on Thursday.  Have them put together, PLEASE!

Also, if you haven't finished all 18 plot panels for "The Most Dangerous Game." Make sure each panel has both pics and quotes from the story!

Important "Stuff" 8/31

Last due dates!

First, I want to wish you all good luck on your STARR tests this week.   Eat a good breakfast and do your best!    And just a reminder that your project is due in less than a week (Monday, May 14)!!  Make sure you get it all together, complete with parenthetical citations and a proper works cited page (don't forget www.easybib.com!), as NO late projects will be accepted.   Okay, now go "Rock the STARR!"  (Get it?  It's punny!)

Presentations begin tomorrow!

You need to bring your IANs to be graded (pp.114-121), make sure the orange rubric is in it (p. 119) so you don't lose 30 points, and bring your source/notecards if you are scheduled to present tomorrow.  You should bring the same stuff on Friday if you are scheduled for Friday.  Practice and time your presentations, please.  Good luck!

IANs due this week!

Thursday, 3/8, after school make up day for timed essay

Take 10-15 minutes and fill out the graphic organizer to plan your literary essay (write a story about the power of imagination, with or without the picture as a focus).  You will write the essay in class tomorrow.  This is practice in timed writing and will be due at the end of the period, so keep an eye on the time!

"Be the Change" Projects/Test Corrections

Work hard on the projects over the next couple of days, kiddos!  Don't forget, it is a summative grade.  I will help on Friday to make sure you haven't missed anything, but you should be close to done by then.  Also, test corrections can begin on Friday.  Remember that they must be done by the following day or you will not receive any additional credit.  (+3 points for each corrected error)  Be good, and see you on Friday!

Super STAAR Academy

Don't forget the first Super STAAR Academy is this Saturday, 1/14/12.  It starts at 9 and goes until 12:30.  You can leave early if needed, but you must be on time to get in.  Go to student entrance by the commons to get in, and happy test prepping!
